About this opportunity
Denton County is requesting bids on traffic control services across non-site-specific roadways in the Denton County Maintenance Section under a 365-calendar-day contract, with proposals due October 14, 2026. Work is performed statewide on Interstate 35E and subordinate roadways throughout the Denton County Maintenance Section under TxDOT control 6502-60-001 and Project RMC-A00221875.
Bid items include mobilization callouts (standard, callout 1, and emergency); portable changeable message signs; truck-mounted attenuators (stationary and mobile operations); and lane closures by type and hourly duration (quantities ranging from 10 to 750 hours depending on lane closure type). A Force Account provision applies for law enforcement personnel if required, with payment capped at the duration of the lane closure. Highway work is subject to holiday and special event restrictions, including UT versus University of Oklahoma football games, NASCAR races in April and November, and INDY car races in June and September.
Contractors must register with and utilize the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's E-Verify system and submit an audited financial statement and experience questionnaire at least ten days prior to the letting date. A dedicated email address for work order receipt is mandatory, with acknowledgment required within 12 hours of notification. The non-site-specific minimum per notification is $250.
Bidders must submit a proposal guaranty (cashier's check, teller's check, bank money order, or bid bond) in the amount of $17,000.00 and acknowledge all addenda issued. Unit prices must be submitted for all listed bid items on the official proposal form. The contract allows mutual extension agreements beginning six months prior to project completion, with unit price adjustments reflecting the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. Contractors must comply with nondiscrimination, conflict of interest, information security safeguards, and prohibitions against boycotting Israel, energy companies, or firearm entities.
