About this opportunity
The Hale Area School District is soliciting competitive sealed bids for track resurfacing improvements divided into two bid categories: asphalt paving and track surface work. Bids must be submitted in triplicate to Mr. Jeffrey Yorke, Superintendent, at Hale Area School District, 311 N. Washington, Hale, MI 48739, with a deadline of 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. The project must be completed by June 4, 2026, as the school will utilize the track through that date. Prospective bidders are encouraged to conduct site visits by contacting Chip Hendrick, the Construction Manager and Owner's Representative, at chip@rchendrick.com, with complete bidding documents available through the R.C. Hendrick Plan Room at www.rchendrick.com. All questions regarding plans and specifications must be directed to R.C. Hendrick & Son, Inc. at chip@rchendrick.com, and any addendums will be posted to the online plan room no later than 12:00 Noon on the day before the bid is due. Bidders must provide a sworn and notarized familial disclosure statement in compliance with MCL 380.1267, disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder or its employees and members of the school board, intermediate school board, superintendent, or chief executive officer, with the District rejecting any bids lacking this required disclosure.
Bids exceeding Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) must include a certified check or bid bond from a surety company approved to do business in Michigan, payable to the Owner in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the base bid. No specific set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises or minority-owned businesses are identified in the bidding documents. Bids may not be withdrawn for sixty (60) days after the bid date. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in bidding procedures. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are identified in the available documentation, nor are specific budget ranges provided; however, the fifty-thousand-dollar threshold for bid security requirements suggests the project may exceed that amount.
