About this opportunity
The Town of Brookhaven Department of Housing and Community Development is soliciting sealed bids for removal and disposal of an existing non-compliant access ramp and installation of an ADA-compliant ramp system at Town Hall, with bids due July 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Davis-Bacon prevailing wage requirements and New York State Department of Labor prevailing wage standards apply — contractors must submit NYS Department of Labor registration certification with their bid or face disqualification.
The scope encompasses thirteen line items: work zone traffic control, project survey and stakeout, mobilization, unclassified excavation, geotextile and evaporation fabric installation, saw cutting of pavement, aluminum handrail installation, removal of existing handrails, concrete sidewalk and ramp construction, concrete curb installation (6-inch and 12-inch), decorative stone placement, and full-depth pavement restoration. The new ramp is approximately 75 feet long with 1.5-inch outside diameter steel railings, constructed to meet all applicable federal, state, and local accessibility and building code requirements. Quantities vary by line item.
Contractors must demonstrate five years of previous experience directly related to the stated scope of work and comply with the Town of Brookhaven Apprenticeship Training Program. Proof of authorization to do business in New York State is required. The primary trade classification is Laborer, though the Town reserves the right to approve other applicable trades.
Substantial completion is required within forty-five consecutive calendar days from contract execution. The project is funded through the Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant program. Technical questions are due July 7, 2026. Electronic bid submission through the BidNet Direct portal is the preferred method. Bids are submitted to the Town of Brookhaven Division of Purchasing, One Independence Hill, Farmingville, New York 11738.
