About this opportunity
Vassar Public Schools, located in Van Buren County, Michigan, is soliciting competitive sealed bids for theatrical lighting installation at its Jr/Sr High School facility, with R.C. Hendrick & Son, Inc. serving as the Construction Manager. The procurement encompasses complete theatrical lighting work as a single bid category, with all project documentation including drawings, specifications, and addendums available through the R.C. Hendrick Plan Room website at www.rchendrick.com. A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for Monday, August 3, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. with CTO Theron Nesbitt, which all prospective bidders are required to attend. Sealed bids must be submitted in triplicate to Ms. Dorothy Blackwell, Superintendent, at 220 Athletic Street, Vassar, Michigan 48768, with a deadline of 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, at which time bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Bidders may submit questions and Requests for Information to R.C. Hendrick & Son, Inc. at chip@rchendrick.com, and addendums will be posted no later than 12:00 Noon on the day preceding the bid deadline. Bids exceeding Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond from a Michigan-approved surety company in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the base bid.
Bidders are required to submit a sworn and notarized familial disclosure statement in compliance with MCL 380.1267, disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder's owner or employees and members of the school board, intermediate school board, superintendent, or chief executive officer. Telephonic, email, and fax bids are not accepted; only physically submitted sealed bids in the specified format will be considered. Bids may not be withdrawn for sixty (60) days after the bid date. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informalities, and reject bids that are incomplete, irregular, or lack required data. While no specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise restrictions are indicated in the procurement documents, the project budget appears to be capped at or potentially exceeding Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) based on the bonding requirement threshold specified for bids at that level.
