Taylor School District (Michigan) is requesting sealed bids for roof removal and replacement at its Board of Education building, 13500 Pine Street, Taylor, Michigan, under RFB #2, with bids due November 12, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time. A mandatory walkthrough is scheduled for October 29, 2026 at 9:00 a.m.; inquiries are due November 12 at 11:00 a.m. Taylor-based businesses are eligible for preferential credit up to 3% in bid evaluation.
The scope encompasses full tear-off of existing aggregate-surfaced built-up roofing from the metal deck, removal of base flashings, and installation of new polyisocyanurate insulation with gypsum cover board, three-ply built-up asphalt roofing membrane (cold-applied), aggregate surfacing, sheet metal flashing, walkways, and roof drainage systems across approximately 40,883 square feet (Sections 1 through 10). The roofing system is based on Tremco products as the basis of design, with a 20-year manufacturer warranty and 2-year installer warranty; the manufacturer will conduct inspections in years 2, 5, 10, and 15 with inspection costs included in the contract. Work hours are restricted to 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with 72-hour advance notice required for activities affecting school operations. The facility remains occupied during construction. A preinstallation roofing conference and a qualified roofing inspector (minimum three full-time days per 40-hour crew week) are required.
Bidders must submit one original and two sealed copies. Bids exceeding $23,417 require a bid bond or certified check equal to 5% of the bid amount. Bids over $50,000 require performance and labor/materials payment bonds at 100%. Contractors must provide Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Automobile Liability, and Contingent Liability coverage; confirm Iran Economic Sanctions Act compliance and conflict-of-interest certifications; and submit at least one reference letter from a public entity for similar completed work. Subcontractors must be identified at bid submission with prior District approval for any changes. Award requires Board of Education approval and adoption. The District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and award portions to one or more bidders.
