About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Transportation is requesting bids for the purchase of one 16-foot enclosed cargo trailer, with bids due October 23, 2007.
The trailer must meet precise dimensional specifications: minimum 16-foot interior length, 6-foot-6-inch interior width, and 6-foot-5-inch interior height, with overall length between 18 and 19 feet and gross vehicle weight rating of 7,000 pounds. The frame shall be constructed from minimum 2-inch by 6-inch structural steel tubing or equivalent I-beam. The exterior must be 0.030-inch smooth aluminum with a 24-inch stone guard. The trailer requires tandem axles rated at 3,500 pounds each, ramp-type rear door with spring assist, one side door, LED exterior lighting, electric brakes with breakaway system, pressure-treated plywood flooring, and 3/8-inch plywood wall linings. Interior equipment includes two 12-volt dome lights and one non-powered roof vent; a full-size spare tire and wheel; and a lockable tool storage box of the largest available size. All materials must be new, current manufacturer stock models in compliance with applicable Federal and State of Maine regulations.
The successful bidder must provide manufacturer's standard warranty from in-service date and supply two complete sets each of parts manuals, service manuals, and operator's manuals plus a specification sheet. The bidder must maintain or have access to parts inventory within Maine capable of providing 95-percent parts availability within 48 hours of order, with expendable items such as filters and hoses available within 24 hours. A detailed proposal program for parts and service availability must accompany the bid and will be a determining factor in award selection. Delivery, complete and ready for service, must be made to Fleet Service/MaineDOT at 105 Capitol Street, Augusta, Maine 04330, with delivery costs included in all bids. Awards will be made to the best-value, responsible bidder based on quality, conformity with specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost. In tie-bid situations, in-state bidders or bidders with products manufactured in Maine receive preference.
