About this opportunity
The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is soliciting bids for construction of two standby generator systems, two switchgears, one transformer, automatic transfer switches, a load bank docking station, access drives, and sidewalks at the Tawakoni Water Treatment Plant, with bids due August 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. through Bonfire and a non-mandatory pre-bid conference on July 22, 2026 at the WTP Office in Terrell, Texas. The project is subject to prevailing wage requirements for Heavy construction classification in Tarrant County and United States Iron and Steel requirements under Texas Government Code Chapter 2252, Subchapter G.
Work is performed at two locations: the High Service Pump Station on the north end of the property and the main Water Treatment Plant (18015 Co Rd 329, Terrell, TX 75161). One generator and switchgear pair serves the HSPS; the second pair serves the WTP, with connections to Main Switchgear at WTP Reclaimed Water, Wash Water, and Plant Water pump stations. Scope includes SCADA updates for the new generators, transformer, and automatic transfer switch equipment. Contractors must provide performance and payment bonds and submit evidence of qualifications.

Progress payments are made at 95 percent of completed work value with 5 percent retainage prior to substantial completion; upon substantial completion, payments increase to 95 percent less punch list items. Liquidated damages are $1,000 per calendar day for failure to meet substantial completion, final completion, and three project milestones: submittals within 90 days, generator/switchgear installation within 90 days of delivery, and transformer completion within 90 days of delivery. Award will be made to the lowest qualified bidder. All bids must remain valid for 90 days following bid opening. Written questions are due July 29, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. The project is contingent upon funding release from the Texas Water Development Board.
