About this opportunity

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is requesting bids for roadside tree trimming services in Talbot County under IFB TATREE27R, with questions and bids both due October 27, 2025 at 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM respectively via the eMaryland Marketplace Advantage system. This solicitation was initially advertised as a small-business set-aside but is now open to any size business after the first advertisement yielded no bids.

The scope covers pre-scheduled tree trimming and removal on an as-needed basis over an 18-month contract period on a firm fixed-price basis for an estimated 30 crew days. The contractor must provide a crew of one foreman, one tree climber/pruner, and one laborer; all equipment including a minimum 50-foot bucket truck with forestry body, 12-inch self-feeding chipper, three chainsaws, 15-foot pole saw, and hand tools; debris removal and disposal; and equipment security. Work is performed 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM daily with daily check-ins at the SHA Easton facility. No subcontracting is permitted, and the contractor must own all equipment and may be required to provide proof of ownership.

Bidders must demonstrate one year of experience providing similar services and submit a reference from the past five years. Workers' Compensation insurance (minimum $1 million per occurrence) and Automobile/Commercial Truck Insurance are mandatory. MDOT SHA will provide one attenuator truck with operator and all traffic control for roads with posted speed limits exceeding 55 mph. Contractors are responsible for ANSI Class 3 safety compliance. No MBE, DBE, or federal funding applies. The contract award does not guarantee minimum work volume. Evaluation is solely on lowest responsive bid price. Public bid opening occurs October 27, 2025 at 9:00 AM via Microsoft Teams. Site visits may be arranged upon request.
