About this opportunity
The state of Ohio, specifically Lake County, is seeking a system conversion and simulcast channel expansion procurement for its public safety communications infrastructure. The contract opportunity, identified as 681e29de352795271f06da8c, involves connecting the Austintown Boardman Mahoning (ABM) 4 site's 8-channel simulcast system to the MARCS system at Zone 2 in Lake County. Key deliverables include installing new site routers and Ethernet switches to create a customer-provided backhaul connection, and replacing the existing Simulcast Prime Site with a new Motorola Virtualized Prime Site equipped with redundant backhaul routers and switches. The procurement is designed to enhance communication capabilities by facilitating a transition to the MARCS network. The solicitation was posted on May 9, 2025, with proposals due by May 16, 2025. Potential bidders will need to demonstrate technical expertise in public safety communication systems, network infrastructure, and system integration capabilities. Qualifications should include experience with simulcast systems, router and switch deployment, and familiarity with MARCS network technologies.
While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the provided documentation, the procurement appears to be a technical infrastructure project targeting public safety communication improvements. The existing infrastructure involves an 8-channel simulcast system that will be integrated with new Motorola equipment and routed through Zone 2's core site in Lake County. The project suggests a sophisticated technical requirement that likely necessitates vendors with specialized telecommunications and public safety communication system expertise. Although no specific budget range is mentioned, the complexity of the system conversion and expansion implies a significant capital investment. The procurement appears focused on enhancing communication interoperability and infrastructure resilience for emergency response and public safety operations. Potential bidders should be prepared to demonstrate comprehensive technical capabilities, previous experience with similar municipal communication system upgrades, and a thorough understanding of MARCS network integration requirements.
