About this opportunity
The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) is seeking proposals for the Supported Decision Making Technical Assistance Program (SDM-TAP) Grant Family/Individual Implementation. The grant aims to fund projects that will conduct outreach campaigns to increase awareness of SDM among families and individuals, especially those within I/DD, aging, and mental health populations, and adapt or create SDM self-advocacy tools and trainings. The successful grantee(s) will be required to provide implementation support to families and individuals, partner with existing self-advocacy organizations, and meet accessibility standards. Proposals are due by April 22, 2024, and SCDD has approved a total fund of $3,000,000 for one or more SDM-TAP grants, with a project term from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. Proposals will be evaluated based on criteria such as the organization's qualifications, collaborative partners, project description, implementation plan, target population, diversity and disparities, regional focus, work plan and timeline, deliverables, outcomes, impact, and evaluation plan. A minimum score of 75% is required for consideration of a grant award.
The grants are available to qualified organizations, local government agencies, non-government organizations, tribal organizations, community-based non-profits, and established 501(c)(3) coalitions that serve individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental health issues, and aging concerns. Priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in SDM, outreach to underserved communities, and collaborative partnerships. The grant funds cannot be used for advance payments, but applicants can propose a lower budget amount than the full grant. Matched funds are not required, but disclosed matched funds or in-kind contributions will be considered in evaluating the applicant's financial capability.
Opportunity text
SCDD is interested in funding a project that will: 1.Conduct an outreach campaign to families/individuals (especially those withinI/DD, aging, and mental health populations) to increase awareness of SDM generally and your SDM program specifically. Make sure you include a)accessing underserved communities through trusted members/leaders of those communities and b) bringing supports directly to families in those communities. 2. Adapt, enhance, or (if needed) create SDM self-advocacy tools, strategies andtrainings in the identified area of focus. We encourage using existing tools in partnership with the organizations/programs that developed those tools. The goal is for families/individuals to be able to implement SDM in all of the focusareas.
