About this opportunity
The Maryland Environmental Service (MES) is soliciting competitive sealed bids for baler tying wire procurement across two Maryland recycling facilities: the Prince George's County Material Recovery Facility (MRF) located in Capitol Heights and the Montgomery County Recycling Center in Derwood. The procurement specifically requires contractors to supply various types of baler tying wire, with mandatory delivery via forklift-unloadable vehicles such as tractor trailers or box trucks. Electronic bids must be submitted exclusively through the MES Procurement Portal (https://menv.bonfirehub.com/) by March 21, 2025, with no alternative submission methods accepted. Bidders are advised that conditioning bids or proposals will result in automatic disqualification under COMAR 21.05.02.22. The bid opening will occur electronically with a public attendance option via a shared link, and bid tabulations will be posted on the procurement portal within 48 hours of the opening. Potential bidders can follow up with the procurement department at procurement@menv.com to confirm bid receipt.
The solicitation does not explicitly mention specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are identified in the available documentation. The procurement appears to be a standard supply contract without detailed information about specific award values or comprehensive budget ranges. Interested contractors must be qualified to provide baler tying wire and capable of meeting the technical delivery specifications, including having appropriate vehicle types for unloading at the designated facilities. The contract appears focused on ensuring consistent wire supply for recycling operations in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. Contractors should carefully review all requirements on the MES Procurement Portal and ensure complete compliance with submission guidelines to be considered for the contract.
