About this opportunity
The state and local contract opportunity, identified by ID 66cca659968d0a8c8a078f9c, involves a comprehensive Student Recreation Center Floor Replacement project located in Clinton County, specifically within Claysville Borough, Pennsylvania. The procurement seeks a contractor to complete a full gymnasium floor renovation, which includes installing a new 25/33" thick maple hardwood gym floor system over existing synthetic flooring. The project requires precise technical specifications, including raising basketball hoops, modifying volleyball standard floor inserts, and creating court layouts with specific dimensions and markings. Key deliverables include installing new flooring with transitions meeting ADA code requirements, undercutting and reinforcing six sliding doors, and ensuring compatibility of line paint and floor finish. The court layouts must incorporate one main basketball court, one main volleyball court, and three secondary basketball courts. The solicitation was posted on April 20, 2017, with proposals due by May 17, 2017, indicating a relatively compressed procurement timeline of approximately four weeks.
While no specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements were explicitly stated in the documentation, the project appears to be a specialized flooring installation requiring significant technical expertise in gymnasium floor systems. The project suggests a preference for contractors with experience in sports facility renovations, particularly those familiar with ADA compliance and complex flooring installations. Though no specific budget range was provided, the comprehensive nature of the project—involving flooring replacement, hoop repositioning, door modifications, and specialized court markings—implies a substantial investment. The project is associated with a university facility, which suggests potential additional evaluation criteria around technical capability, past performance in similar institutional settings, and ability to minimize disruption to existing recreational spaces. The solicitation indicates the university will be directly involved in aesthetic decisions, such as line and court color selections, which may factor into contractor selection.
