About this opportunity
The City of Sunrise is seeking a qualified contractor to replace Stormwater Pump Station No. 5, located at 9140 Sunrise Lakes Boulevard, which serves a 312-acre drainage basin. This procurement involves a comprehensive project to demolish the existing 1973 station and construct a new facility, with key deliverables including three 13,000 gallons per minute submersible electric pumps, an emergency backup generator, reinforced concrete intake structure, piping systems, retaining walls, precast pump chambers, discharge piping, trash-raker system, bypass structures, and associated infrastructure. The contractor will be responsible for all aspects of the project, including permitting, inspections, materials, labor, equipment, and complete system installation. The project is scheduled for proposal submission by September 26, 2025, with the contract requiring comprehensive engineering and construction capabilities to ensure full operational readiness of the new stormwater management facility. The procurement is partially funded through Broward County's Mobility Advancement Program and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
While no specific set-aside designations or vendor restrictions are explicitly outlined in the documentation, the project requires a highly specialized contractor with significant civil engineering and stormwater infrastructure expertise. The project spans jurisdictions including Broward County and Tampa City, though the primary location is in Sunrise. Although a specific budget range is not provided, the complexity of the project—involving multiple pump systems, extensive site infrastructure, and specialized engineering components—suggests a substantial capital investment. The project encompasses advanced technological integration, including a telemetry system for remote pump monitoring and control, which indicates a preference for contractors with sophisticated infrastructure implementation capabilities. The comprehensive nature of the project, involving demolition, construction, and sophisticated hydraulic systems, implies a significant contract value commensurate with the technical complexity and infrastructure requirements.
