The system currently has thirty-eight (38) connections for wastewater and nine (10) connections for water. The wastewater collection system consists of two (2) sewage lift stations that are now owned and operated by the Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD); one of these stations is a transfer station which pumps sewage to the primary lift station. The primary lift station at the park conveys raw sewage via a 6 force main to a 12 gravity main near the Town of Onancock. The sewage is ultimately conveyed to the HRSD Wastewater Treatment Plant located in the Town of Onancock.
Update #1 ·
Accomack County is accepting bids for Stormwater Ditch Cleaning - 22301 Leemont Rd. The successful contractor will clear and clean the drainage ditch back to its original parameters. Some projects will require a snag & drag approach to remove fallen trees and naturally occurring dams that restrict water flow. Other projects will require excavating leaf litter, debris and sedimentation to restore the original parameters of the ditch. This project is primarily a snag & drag operation. The existing structure provides drainage for State Route 763 Leemont Rd. This project is required to relieve excessive water backing up on Route 763. The flow of water has been impeded by silt and some snags and debris. The proposed cleaning operation will start 995 ft east of State Route 669 Hopkins Rd. near house lot 22301 and follow the contours of the existing ditch to a flagged point 150 feet from State Route 669. The project will terminate at this point (Total length is approximately 1,400 feet).
