About this opportunity

The North Carolina Zoological Park is requesting sealed proposals for standby generators, switchgear control systems with E-House, equipment foundations, and site work at its Asheboro facility, with bids due August 27, 2026, and a pre-bid meeting on August 6, 2026.

General contractors must hold a minimum Limited License classification under North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 87, Article 1. Single prime contractors in other trades may bid directly if general construction does not exceed 25% of total construction value.

The project scope encompasses providing and installing standby generators, switchgear control systems with E-House, equipment foundations, and associated site work. Bids will be received on a lump-sum basis for a single prime contract. Complete plans, specifications, and contract documents are available for inspection at the North Carolina Zoological Park offices or by appointment through the project consultant, Utility Technology Engineers-Consultants, PLLC (Rudra Patel, 336-625-0917, rpatel@utilitytec.com).

All proposals require a bid security equal to not less than 5% of the proposal amount, either as a cash deposit, certified check, or a bid bond executed by a North Carolina-licensed surety company. Upon award, a performance bond and payment bond for 100% of the contract price will be required. Payment will be made based on 95% of monthly estimates with final payment upon completion and acceptance of work.

Sealed proposals are due at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Stedman Education Building, 4401 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, with public bid opening immediately following. The pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the Board Room. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for thirty days. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and waive informalities.
