About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is soliciting quotes for specialty white pine lumber under an RFQ with quotes due June 1, 2010. In-state bidders receive preference in tie-bid situations under Maine procurement rules.

The scope covers 4/4 Premium Grade White Pine Lumber with 8–10% moisture content, planed on three sides, in 6–10 inch widths and 6–10 foot lengths, supplied in two product configurations (8-inch and 10-inch widths, part numbers PWP8 and PWP10, classified under NIGP code 54000). Each lift must be wrapped for protection. Vendors must accept the State Procurement Card as a payment method with no surcharges.

The estimated yearly contract value is approximately $20,000, though actual payment will cover all quantities ordered during the contract term, whether more or less. The contract period runs May 15, 2010 through May 31, 2011, with the State retaining the right to renew for two additional one-year periods with contractor consent. All pricing must remain firm for the entire contract duration and include transportation on an F.O.B. Destination basis. Price increases are permitted only when justified by documented general industry changes or changes in state or federal law, subject to State approval; price reductions may occur at any time.

Orders of $5,000 or less are emailed directly to the vendor; larger orders are routed through the Division of Purchases' Buyers for approval and encumbrance. Quotes must be submitted electronically through the AdvantageME portal by 2:00 p.m. local time on the closing date. Questions must be submitted through the portal's Question and Answer link no later than 48 hours prior to bid closing. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder considering best value, including quality, conformity to specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost. Bidders must indicate willingness to extend pricing to Maine political subdivisions and school districts. The procurement contact is Bambi L. Tefft, Buyer II, State of Maine Division of Purchases.
