About this opportunity

Lansing Public School District is requesting bids on electrical infrastructure upgrades to support EV charger and battery storage integration at the Hill Center facility under SO-1860, with bids due June 4, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., and a pre-bid meeting held May 20, 2026.

The scope encompasses installation of electrical infrastructure including wiring, cables, grounding systems, raceways, panelboard installation, underground service, distribution transformers, 480/277 volt switchgear, automatic transfer switches, chain-link fencing with automated gate operators, protective relaying, and pavement markings conforming to MDOT specifications. EV chargers and battery storage are supplied by the Owner; the contractor installs infrastructure and performs final startup of bus EV chargers. A 600-amp tap will be made at the load side of the existing switch per National Electrical Code Section 240.21(B)(5). Control of solar array inverters, automatic transfer switches, and EV chargers is excluded; control conductor installation and terminations are included. Fencing and all pavement markings are contractor responsibilities. Civil testing is the Owner's responsibility.

The project is located at 5815 Wise Road, Lansing, Michigan 48911, with completion expected by March 2027. Bidders must submit completion time estimates in calendar days from award and may propose voluntary alternates. Contract documents are preliminary and marked "Not for Construction"; final documents issue at award.

Pre-bid questions were due May 26, 2026. Addendum 1, issued May 28, 2026, clarifies 23 technical and administrative questions from the May 20 walkthrough. Bids are non-withdrawable for 60 calendar days from opening. Bidders must submit a W-9, Supplier/Vendor Application, Affidavit of Bidder (confirming no familial relationships with Board members or Superintendent), Non-Collusion Affidavit, and certify compliance with non-discrimination employment policies and the Iran Economic Sanctions Act. The District reserves the right to accept any or all parts of a bid and conduct post-bid interviews potentially scheduled for June 8, 2026.
