About this opportunity

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is soliciting bids for the Skinner Creek Road Resurfacing Project in Rusk County, with proposals due by November 20, 2025. The primary procurement involves hauling approximately 5,680 cubic yards of gravel, spreading and compacting the material along a 3.3-mile section of Skinner Creek Road within the Flambeau River State Forest. Contractors must handle gravel sourcing, either from the Price Creek Gravel Pit stockpiles supplied by DNR or from an alternative non-DNR source. A key requirement is comprehensive road grading across the entire project length, with the contractor responsible for providing their own loader for material handling. The road will be completely closed to traffic during the project, and the contractor must manage all necessary traffic signage. The work zone spans from Highway M to the "Leaving Flambeau River State Forest" sign, with precise location details outlined in the project map.

No specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements were explicitly mentioned in the contract opportunity description. The procurement appears open to standard commercial contractors with road construction and gravel hauling capabilities. While no incumbent vendors were identified, the project involves working within an existing state forest infrastructure. The DNR will not provide a loader for material loading, which suggests contractors must have their own equipment and transportation capabilities. Although no specific budget range was provided, the scope of work involving 5,680 cubic yards of gravel, road grading, and comprehensive project management indicates a moderate-scale infrastructure improvement project. Interested contractors should carefully review the project map and specifications to understand the full project requirements and prepare competitive bids.
