About this opportunity
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking bids for the Skinner Creek Road Resurfacing Project located in Rusk County, with proposals due by September 23, 2025. The primary procurement involves hauling and spreading approximately 5,680 cubic yards of gravel along Skinner Creek Road, specifically the 3.3-mile section within the Flambeau River State Forest between Highway M and the Rusk County Forest boundary. Contractors must be prepared to handle gravel sourcing, either from the DNR's Price Creek Gravel Pit stockpiles or from an alternative non-DNR source, with the understanding that no loader will be provided for loading materials. The project requires comprehensive road grading across the entire length of Skinner Creek Road, with the road to be completely closed to traffic during construction. Contractors will be responsible for providing all necessary traffic signage and managing the road closure logistics.
No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the contract documentation. The project appears to be open to standard road construction and civil works contractors with capabilities in gravel hauling, road grading, and construction site management. While a precise budget range was not specified, the scope of work suggests a mid-sized infrastructure maintenance project involving approximately 5,680 cubic yards of material movement and comprehensive road surface rehabilitation. The project's location within the Flambeau River State Forest indicates potential environmental sensitivity, which might require contractors to demonstrate environmental compliance and careful construction practices. Interested bidders should carefully review the project map and specifications to fully understand the site-specific requirements and logistical challenges of the Skinner Creek Road Resurfacing Project.
