About this opportunity

The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is issuing Invitation to Bid (ITB No. FPD126-FIREA-6404) for the procurement of one new skid steer loader to support operational needs. The equipment must be a current advertised model from an established manufacturer including Bobcat S770, Caterpillar 272D, John Deere 332E, or New Holland L230, equipped with a minimum 90 horsepower Tier 4 diesel engine, enclosed cab with air conditioning and heating, reinforced roll cage meeting SAE-J1040 and ISO 3471 standards, and a minimum 88-inch bucket suitable for snow removal operations. Required specifications include pneumatic premium severe-duty tires with 44/32-inch tread depth, two sets of tire chains, front and rear work lights with steel protection, rear view camera with in-cab monitor, joystick controls, fully adjustable suspended seat, electric horn, 25-gallon fuel tank capacity minimum, and a high-flow hydraulic system with minimum 30 GPM capacity. Bidders must provide a one-year unlimited hours warranty covering parts and labor, commit to maintaining authorized service centers with complete parts inventory within 20 miles of San Bernardino City, and guarantee replacement OEM parts delivery within 48 hours for hydraulic, electronic, engine, and drivetrain components, or provide a loaner skid steer tractor of similar size free of charge for up to three years from purchase. Sealed bids must be submitted electronically through the San Bernardino County ePro system or in paper form to the County Purchasing Department by June 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM PST, with a tentative contract award date in June 2026 and delivery required within 90 days of purchase order receipt to 210 North Lena Road, San Bernardino, California 92415, Building 5.

San Bernardino County has adopted a local vendor preference policy providing a five percent (5%) cost preference for vendors with principal business locations within San Bernardino County boundaries, which may provide an advantage to qualified local businesses. Pricing must be submitted on an F.O.B. destination basis with freight charges listed separately and excluding California sales/use tax and federal excise tax, with payment terms of Net 60 days from receipt and acceptance of the equipment. Optional equipment items must be priced separately from the base bid, and all bids require compliance with standard representations and certifications including debarment status, criminal and civil proceeding disclosures, current pricing accuracy, and independent pricing certification. Bidders must demonstrate compliance with California OSHA and environmental standards, drug and alcohol-free workplace requirements, and non-discrimination provisions as incorporated into standard County terms and conditions. The ITB does not identify incumbent vendors or specific budget ranges, but interested bidders should note that the contract incorporates termination for default and convenience, audit rights, and standard County procurement practices.
