About this opportunity

The City of Lubbock is requesting bids on services for repair or replacement of a 30-inch butterfly valve at the North Water Treatment Plant, with bids due August 5, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. CST via the Bonfire portal or hard copy delivery to Marta Alvarez, Director of Purchasing and Contract Management.

The scope centers on the existing DeZurik butterfly valve (Part number 9638857R001, CWP 150B, 316 SS Shaft) located at 6001 N. Guava, which has developed a leak around its operating stem. The City prefers in-place repair using a repair kit and gaskets; if repairs prove infeasible, the contractor may proceed with valve replacement upon mutual agreement. If replacement is necessary, the contractor must supply and install a new butterfly valve with required dresser couplings, gaskets, bolts, and associated components. The contractor furnishes all labor, tools, equipment, and supplies. Work must begin no earlier than October 15, 2026 and be completed within seven consecutive calendar days of project start. Deliverables include three hard copies and two digital copies of Operations and Maintenance manuals, as-built drawings, and schematics on portable flash drives.

The contractor must provide a one-year warranty guaranteeing accurate valve operation and bears the cost of replacing or repairing defective components during that period. Required insurance includes Commercial General Liability ($1 million occurrence / $2 million aggregate), Automobile Liability ($1 million occurrence), Professional Liability ($1 million occurrence / $2 million aggregate), and Workers Compensation at statutory limits, with the City named as additional insured on a primary and non-contributory basis.

Bid prices must be firm for a minimum of 60 days and quoted F.O.B. delivered inclusive of all delivery and packaging costs; the City is exempt from Federal Excise, State Sales, and Transportation taxes, which must not be included. The contractor must indicate the number of calendar days required for delivery on the Bid Form. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 28, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. via teleconference, with an optional site visit July 29, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at the North Water Treatment Plant.
