About this opportunity

Fairfax County, Virginia, in collaboration with Baxter Rural Fire and Rescue Department, is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Equipment through the RFxPremier cooperative purchasing program. The procurement seeks to establish one or more Master Agreements with manufacturers capable of providing specialized breathing apparatus for emergency response personnel. This solicitation targets comprehensive SCBA equipment procurement, likely including respiratory protection systems critical for firefighting and hazardous environment operations. The RFP was posted on October 3, 2025, with proposals due by November 10, 2025, representing a structured procurement process managed by the Procurement Professionals Alliance (PPA). Potential respondents should carefully review all documentation, with additional details available through www.joinppa.org and www.rfxpremier.org, specifically in Attachment 05 which provides comprehensive participation information.

The RFxPremier procurement model allows broad participation without membership requirements, enabling multiple entity types to potentially access the resulting contract, including states, counties, districts, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, tribal entities, and nonprofit organizations. Eligible suppliers can respond to the solicitation, with no explicit restrictions on business size or classification mentioned in the provided documentation. The cooperative purchasing approach suggests potential for multi-jurisdictional contract utilization, potentially creating significant market access for the selected SCBA equipment manufacturer(s). While specific award values are not disclosed, cooperative procurement mechanisms typically indicate substantial potential contract volumes across participating jurisdictions. The collaborative nature of the RFP, involving multiple lead entities and a diverse sourcing team, implies a comprehensive evaluation process designed to ensure thorough vendor assessment and selection of high-quality breathing apparatus equipment meeting stringent public safety standards.
