About this opportunity
The Town of Waterford, Connecticut Department of Public Works is soliciting bids for seasonal mowing and trimming services at the Miner Lane Landfill (85 Miner Lane, Waterford, CT 06385) under a three-year contract with bids due September 3, 2026. A non-mandatory pre-bid walk is scheduled for August 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the project site.
The scope covers semi-annual maintenance of approximately 18 acres: one mowing and trimming in mid-May and one at the end of September each year. Work includes mechanical mowing of open, flat, and sloped areas (ranging from relatively flat to approximately 1V:2.5H grades) at a minimum height of 6 inches using mulching blades, hand trimming around monitoring wells, tree lines, berms, and rock-lined drainage ditches, and brush and weed cutting from drainage openings. The contractor must perform site inspections prior to each mowing and notify the Town of any settlements, burrows, nesting birds, or bald areas. The Town will conduct inspections with the contractor before and after work completion.
The contractor must provide all necessary equipment, including a front-wheel or four-wheel drive tractor with rollover protection and agricultural tires, a 15-foot wide-cut rotary batwing-style mower with mandatory mulching blades and hydraulic height control, and power hand trimmers with full blade guards. All work must comply with OSHA, State, and Federal regulations and include appropriate personal protective equipment and safety equipment. Operations occur Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with extended hours or Saturday work available subject to Town approval. The contractor assumes full responsibility for site conditions following the initial inspection and must indemnify the Town against claims arising from contracted activities. Equipment may be stored in a designated onsite staging area during operating hours; refueling must not occur in mowing areas.
