About this opportunity

The Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is issuing a Request for Bid (RFB) for scrap metal and aluminum recycling services to be utilized by various KYTC divisions and highway districts. The resulting Master Agreement(s) will be awarded to all responsive bidders and will have an initial term beginning upon award and expiring on September 30, 2023, with four optional one-year renewal periods. KYTC personnel will deliver scrap metal and aluminum to the vendor's location(s) for recycling, and vendors must meet certain requirements related to safety, protective equipment, and proper handling and disposal of materials. Bids are due by 1:30 pm on December 22, 2022 and will only be accepted electronically through the Commonwealth's e-Procurement system. The bid award will be based on the percentage the vendor is willing to pay KYTC per the current AMM Chicago Market Price for scrap metal and aluminum, and KYTC reserves the right to reject any bid deemed too low.

The Commonwealth may apply preferences for Kentucky resident bidders and qualified bidders including Kentucky Correctional Industries and nonprofits. Vendors must register in the Commonwealth's e-Procurement system to submit a bid. The Commonwealth does not provide any information about incumbent vendors, current contractors, or budget ranges for this opportunity. Bidders, offerors, and contractors must complete and submit an Annual Affidavit affirming compliance with various state laws and regulations, which will remain in effect for a maximum of one year.
