About this opportunity

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is requesting price quotes for antenna lowering and relocation, and installation and disposal of above-ground fuel tanks at maintenance stations in Kern and Mono Counties under IFPQ 09A1157, with quotes due October 22, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. This solicitation is restricted to certified Small Businesses (SB), Micro Businesses (MB), Small Businesses for public works (SB-PW), or Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBE) under Government Code Section 14838.7 — a restrictive set-aside that eliminates general market competition.

Bidders must hold a valid Class A General Engineering Contractor or Class B General Building Contractor license from the California Contractors State Licensing Board and maintain current Department of Industrial Relations registration. Subcontractors performing specialty work must hold appropriate corresponding licenses.

The scope spans three line items: lump-sum labor for lowering an existing radio antenna and installing guy wires at the Mojave Special Crews Maintenance Station (1365 CA-58, Mojave, CA 93501); lump-sum labor for relocating one above-ground fuel tank from Mojave to the Bridgeport Highway Maintenance Station (415 Jack Sawyer Road, Bridgeport, CA 93517) and removing and disposing of three existing fuel tanks; and hourly rates for unforeseen labor, plus a 10 percent allowance for parts, materials, supplies, fees, and permits. The maximum bid amount is $484,000. Prevailing wages apply if the total bid amount exceeds $15,000. A Payment Bond of not less than 100 percent of the contract amount is required if the bid exceeds $25,000.

The contract term is estimated to commence December 1, 2026 and expire November 30, 2027, with work performed Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., excluding State holidays. Optional site inspections are scheduled for October 8 at 10:00 a.m. (Mojave) and October 13 at 10:00 a.m. (Bridgeport). Written questions are due October 15 at 3:00 p.m. The estimated award date is October 29, 2026.
