About this opportunity
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking a certified Small Business to undertake a highway improvement project on US Route 6 in Inyo County, specifically from Wye Road to Bishop Creek Bridge, covering approximately 0.32 miles. The primary objective of this contract (SB Minor B 09A1058) is to provide a buffer between vehicular and bicycle traffic through a comprehensive roadway enhancement project. Key deliverables include micro-surfacing, pavement delineation, sign installation, fence work, and creating a striped bike lane on the existing paved shoulder. The project involves multiple technical tasks such as removing painted traffic stripes using high-pressure water blasting, installing traffic control systems, setting up portable flashing beacons, and implementing water pollution control measures. The solicitation requires bidders to submit proposals by email to Justina.Binsfeld@dot.ca.gov by April 30, 2025, with a total estimated project cost of $269,699.30 and a 10 working day completion timeline.
The contract is exclusively reserved for certified small businesses with a Class A or applicable Class C contractor's license. While no specific Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) contract goal is established, Caltrans encourages DVBE participation. Bidders are cautioned that proposals exceeding $461,000 will be automatically rejected, and the successful vendor must be prepared to provide payment bonds and insurance upon contract award. Contractors must comply with California Civil Rights Laws, environmental stewardship requirements, and waste disposal guidelines. The project is funded through the California State Transportation Agency and requires adherence to prevailing wage rates. Additional administrative requirements include documentation of small business certification, contractor's license information, and industrial relations registration. The total project budget is set at $269,699.30, with 26 distinct line items covering various roadway improvement and safety enhancement activities.
