About this opportunity

The City of Pico Rivera is requesting bids for the Safety Crosswalk and ADA Improvements at Marjorie Street and Passons Boulevard Project (CIP No. 50139), with bids due October 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. through the PlanetBids electronic system. Bidders must hold a Class A Contractor license from the California State Contractors License Board and be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations; prevailing wage requirements under California Labor Code Section 1770 et seq. apply.

The scope encompasses mobilization, traffic control, asphalt pavement and concrete removal and construction, curb and gutter installation, sidewalk and driveway construction, curb ramp construction, fence relocation and installation, signing and striping, solar-powered rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) systems, tree removal and replacement, and site restoration across 22 line items with quantities ranging from one lump sum to 1,541 square feet. The contractor must self-perform not less than fifty percent of the work as determined by percentage performed by listed subcontractors.

Contract time for completion is thirty-five working days from the Notice to Proceed, with no time extensions granted and liquidated damages strictly enforced. Bid security equal to at least ten percent of the total bid price is required at submission; upon award, the contractor must provide payment, performance, and warranty bonds (ten percent of contract price, valid one year from project acceptance), all issued by California-admitted surety insurers. Five percent retention applies to progress payments unless equivalent securities are deposited. The contractor must maintain workers' compensation, liability, automobile, and general aggregate insurance with the City named as co-insured.
