About this opportunity
The City of Williamsburg is soliciting bids for pedestrian and traffic signal improvements along the Richmond Road and Lafayette Street corridors, with proposals due October 6, 2026.
The scope includes removing existing pedestrian push buttons and installing new Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS) push-button stations at multiple intersections; installing watertight GPS systems in traffic signal cabinets; and, at some intersections, removing and replacing existing pedestrian signal heads, pedestrian signal panels, and pedestrian crossing signal heads to current Virginia Department of Transportation standards. The work encompasses miscellaneous traffic signal and pedestrian improvements at various intersections throughout the City of Williamsburg as detailed in project plans. All work must comply with VDOT standards, accessibility standards for pedestrian signal equipment, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The contractor must provide materials, labor, and equipment; ensure proper installation, testing, and operational status of all pedestrian signal equipment upon completion; and maintain traffic control measures and public safety protocols throughout the project duration to minimize disruption to traffic flow and pedestrian access in the affected corridors.
The procurement is for the City of Williamsburg, located in James City County, Virginia. A scope-of-work document (843941roadWmbg.pdf) detailing project specifications and plans is attached.
