About this opportunity
The Long Beach Water Department is requesting proposals for on-call utility potholing services to support design and construction activities for sewer, recycled water, and potable water projects within the City of Long Beach, with proposals due September 21, 2022. The department anticipates establishing a list of no more than two firms on a one-year term at approximately $100,000 per firm.
Awardees must mobilize competent personnel within 24 hours of notification and maintain active USA/Dig-Alert tickets. Services include utility potholing, ground penetrating radar, traffic control and permitting, hauling and disposal of spoils, and surface restoration of excavations. All work must conform to American Public Works Association standards, Underground Service Alert requirements, and applicable federal and state labor laws, including prevailing wage provisions for public works projects.
Proposals must include team organization; descriptions of similar projects completed within the past five years; key staff resumes with professional licenses; current hourly billing rates with detailed cost breakdowns for potholing services across various conditions (public right-of-way, private property, paved and unpaved terrain, and sidewalks at varying depths); and a statement of qualifications. Compensation is hourly rate plus reimbursable expenses subject to an upper limit.
Awardees must procure and maintain comprehensive insurance: commercial general liability at $1,000,000 per occurrence, workers' compensation, professional liability errors and omissions at $1,000,000 per claim, and commercial automobile liability at $500,000 combined single limit.
The LBWD reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to negotiate with qualified consultants. Contact for questions is Ms. Leela Stevens at (562) 619-8071.
