About this opportunity

The Walker County Board of Education is seeking sealed proposals from General Contractors for renovations to the Walker County College & Career Academy located at 265 Bicentennial Trail in Rock Spring, Georgia. The procurement is structured as a Request for Proposal (RFP) for construction services, with a mandatory pre-proposal meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. onsite. Proposal submissions will be accepted until 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Facilities and Operations Department located at 298 Culberson Avenue, LaFayette, GA. Interested contractors must obtain proposal documents through Southern A & E's office in Austell, Georgia, by calling 770-819-7777 to request a password and access to their online plan service. Contractors are required to submit a bid bond of 5% of the base proposal and will need to provide performance and payment bonds for 100% of the contract price if awarded. Evaluation will focus on the most advantageous proposal to the Walker County Board of Education, with careful consideration of technical compliance and project requirements.

No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises are explicitly mentioned in the procurement documents. Contractors must comply with Georgia's Security and Immigration Compliance Act and verify lawful presence through the SAVE Program. While no incumbent vendors are identified, the procurement requires contractors to submit complete proposal sets and adhere to strict submission guidelines. Proposals cannot be withdrawn for 60 days after opening, and the Walker County Board of Education reserves the right to waive technicalities and reject any proposals. The project will utilize a standard fixed-price construction contract, with proposals to be published on the website and Georgia Procurement, and additional advertisements in the Walker County Messenger on March 26, 2025, and April 9, 2025. Specific budget ranges or award values are not disclosed in the available documentation, leaving the precise financial scope of the renovation project undefined.
