About this opportunity

This request for qualifications (RFQ) is for site trade contractors to prequalify for the Cal Poly Student Housing Program in San Luis Obispo County, California. The program, which is part of Cal Poly's 2035 Master Plan, involves the design and construction of three new student housing projects at the North Mountain and K-2 parking sites, as well as the renovation of six existing residential halls at the South Maintain site. The total program is estimated to cost between $175 million and $275 million for the new construction projects, and $24 million to $31 million for the renovation projects. Interested trade contractors must submit qualifications via BuildingConnected by May 10, 2024, for scopes of work that include Underground Utility Locating, Temporary Fence, Construction Traffic Control, Construction Survey, General Labor Services, Site Equipment, Temporary Security, and SWPPP. All subcontract amounts of $250,000 and higher require 100% Payment and Performance Bonds, and the project is subject to Prevailing Wage Rates.

The program is part of Cal Poly's efforts to accommodate nearly 15,000 beds of student housing, and the projects will be completed in a phased approach over the next ten years, starting with design in January 2024, in order to minimize the impact on campus life and allow for uninterrupted student housing. There are no set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond, and the current procurement does not list any incumbent vendors or current contractors.
