About this opportunity
Muskegon Public Schools issued this Request for Proposals for comprehensive painting services at Muskegon High School Gymnasium in Oakland County, Michigan. The scope of work includes preparation and painting of all walls with minor repairs, acid washing, sound panel repair, and cleaning to manufacturer warranty specifications, with two optional alternatives: Alternative 1 encompasses dry fall painting of entire ceilings with all HVAC and structural components, and Alternative 2 addresses preparation and painting of all rails. Contractors must provide a minimum three-year warranty on all design, materials, and workmanship from the date of final acceptance. Project walk-throughs are available by appointment with John Snyder or Steve Barlow between May 26-29, 2020, and sealed proposals are due by June 8, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hackley Administration Building, 349 W. Webster Avenue, Muskegon, Michigan 49440. Contract award by the Board of Education is expected on June 9, 2020, with project work commencing in June-July 2020 in coordination with bleacher and flooring companies and targeted completion by July 20, 2020. All proposals must be submitted in two copies and include a bid bond in the minimum amount of five percent of total capital costs, a sworn, notarized Familial Disclosure Statement, and certification under the Iran Economic Sanctions Act.
The District will award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder and reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, award components separately or in total, and waive irregularities. Performance and payment bonds covering one hundred percent of total capital costs are required if mandated by Michigan law (MCL 129.201 et seq.). Contractors must provide general and professional liability insurance with limits as required by law or reasonably required by the District, with certificates of insurance obtained prior to commencing work and maintained for no less than twelve months beyond project completion. The District will issue monthly payments within thirty days of invoice receipt, with a ten percent retainage held until successful final completion, and the first payment will be coordinated with bond sales anticipated in August 2020. All costs, including applicable sales, use, and excise taxes, shall be itemized on a single invoice. No specific budget range or award value is listed in the procurement documents.
