The State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, Division of Facilities Services, is issuing a Request for Information (RFI)/Letters of Interest to solicit available office space for lease by the Department of Corrections in Kodiak, Alaska. The procurement seeks approximately 1,661 square feet of usable office space with specific operational requirements, including two private offices (250 square feet total), two open desk spaces (180 square feet combined), a waiting room (150 square feet), a conference area (170 square feet), an oversized reception area (150 square feet), an interview room (80 square feet), three locker/shower/toilet rooms (225 square feet total), a printer and fax area (25 square feet), and approximately 431 square feet for circulation and support functions. The space must include four signed State employee parking spaces equipped with power infrastructure and accommodate approximately four additional public parking spaces. Respondents must provide building floor plan size, physical address and legal description, available parking spaces, and estimated occupancy date. The State anticipates a preferred occupancy date of July 1, 2026, with space required to be available within 120 days of RFI closure. Responses are due no later than March 27, 2026, at 2 p.m. Alaska time and should be directed to Michael Burkhead, Leasing Contracting Officer, Department of Transportation & Public Facilities, 550 West 7th Avenue, Suite 200, Anchorage, Alaska 99501. The State will consider a long-term lease with an approximately five-year initial term and five additional one-year renewal options, with the lease encompassing all utilities, maintenance, snow removal, and janitorial services.
The RFI does not establish specific set-aside designations or restrictions on respondent organization types based on available documentation. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing infrastructure integration requirements are referenced in the solicitation materials. The State explicitly states it will not accept pricing or cost information in response to this RFI and will use submitted information to conduct a cost/benefit analysis to determine whether to issue a subsequent Request for Proposal or pursue alternative solutions. No specific award value or budget range is disclosed in this RFI phase, as the State is gathering information to make strategic procurement decisions. This RFI does not obligate the State to issue a solicitation, award a contract, or pay any costs associated with response preparation. Responses will remain confidential until the State determines no solicitation is necessary or until award(s) are made from any resulting RFP.
