About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is soliciting sealed bids for a replacement bridge steel beam section with bids due August 25, 2008. In-state bidders and those offering Maine-manufactured products receive tie-bid preference under state procurement rules.

Bidders must submit separate unit prices on prescribed forms or through electronic submission to Room 119, State Office Building, Augusta, Maine, by the closing deadline. The Division reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive formalities and technicalities, and accept any combination of items in the State's best interest. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder based on best value, with evaluation factors including service and supply quality, specification conformance, delivery date, and total cost.

All transportation charges, including freight and express delivery, must be prepaid and borne by the contractor unless otherwise specified. Cash discounts of 20 days or longer are considered in low bid determination; shorter discounts will not be factored. The State is exempt from Federal taxes and Maine State Sales and Use Taxes; bidders must quote accordingly without including these taxes. Contractors must furnish items exactly as specified on the purchase order and provide current material safety data sheets for any hazardous chemicals as required by Maine's Chemical Substance Identification Law. The Division reserves the right to increase or decrease ordered quantities by up to 10 percent. Bids received after the deadline will not be considered, and bids may be withdrawn only by written notice submitted before contract award.
