About this opportunity
The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia is soliciting construction management firms to provide pre-construction, construction management, and construction services for Project No. J-230, the Renovation of Tift Building at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. The project encompasses the complete renovation of the historic 1922 Tift Building to accommodate faculty and departmental offices while preserving its historic integrity. Key deliverables include a comprehensive systems and code compliance upgrade, installation of an elevator (including complex retrofit expertise), construction of an external utility building to house a chiller and fire pump, and adaptive reuse planning for future renovation of the adjacent Animal/Dairy Sciences Building. Responding firms must demonstrate successful experience in pre-construction and renovation delivery of state-of-the-art classrooms of similar scope and complexity, expertise in complex elevator retrofits, and construction activity planning that minimizes negative impacts on natural resources, occupied buildings, existing campus structures, and campus operations in a densely populated college environment. The Board of Regents will evaluate submissions, select several qualified firms, request additional information on project team composition, conduct interviews, rank finalists, and begin contract negotiations with the selected firm. All responses must be submitted by 2:00 PM on December 20, 2013, with the posting date of November 21, 2013.
The solicitation does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions limiting responses to particular categories of organizations such as disadvantaged enterprises or minority-owned businesses. No incumbent vendors, current contractors, or existing infrastructure integration requirements are identified in the procurement notice. The stated cost limitation for the project is approximately $3,588,250, establishing the expected budget range for this renovation initiative.
