About this opportunity

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has issued an Invitation for Price Quote (IFPQ) for a public works project at the Long Beach Maintenance Station, specifically focused on removing, disposing, and installing a new sump pump and dewatering system. The procurement requires a contractor to furnish all necessary labor, equipment, tools, parts, materials, supplies, and incidentals for comprehensive plumbing and sewer system replacement. Key deliverables include replacing check valves, corroded grooved pipes and fittings, float control switches, electrical junction boxes, and associated conduits below deck. Prospective contractors must possess either a Class A General Engineer Contractor license, Class B General Building Contractor license, or C-36 Plumbing Contractor license. A mandatory site inspection is scheduled for 04/16/2025 at 10:00 a.m., with the final quote submission deadline set for 04/24/2025 at 2:00 p.m. The proposed contract term spans from May 19, 2025 to May 18, 2026, with work to be performed during normal business hours Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This solicitation is exclusively reserved for small businesses (SB), including micro businesses (MB), small businesses for public works (SB-PW), and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBE). The total contract value is limited to $461,000, with bids exceeding this amount considered non-responsive. Contractors must be registered with the Department of Industrial Relations and comply with state regulations, including Senate Bill 1383 for organic waste recycling. Prevailing wage requirements apply if the total bid amount exceeds $15,000. The project will require integration with existing infrastructure at the Long Beach Maintenance Station, with a focus on upgrading the current sump and dewatering system to meet Caltrans' operational standards. Potential bidders should carefully review all documentation and ensure complete compliance with the specified technical and administrative requirements to be considered for this procurement opportunity.
