About this opportunity
The City of Craig, Colorado is seeking proposals for the comprehensive refurbishment of an Allis Chalmers Model 300 Wastewater Influent Pump located at their wastewater treatment facility. The procurement involves a complete technical overhaul of a critical centrifugal pump, with specific requirements including replacing current seals with Chesterton 442 split mechanical seals, and potential replacement or refurbishment of key components such as bearings, wear rings, and the impeller shaft. Proposals are due on October 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the City Clerk's office, with a public bid opening scheduled immediately thereafter. The city will evaluate proposals based on multiple criteria, including technical capabilities, customer service responsiveness, references, and overall cost-effectiveness, with the contract anticipated to be awarded at the City Council meeting on October 28, 2025. Vendors must submit comprehensive proposals that detail their approach, qualifications, and proposed solution, understanding that the contract will not necessarily be awarded to the lowest bidder, but to the proposal that best meets the city's needs.
While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on vendor types were explicitly mentioned in the documentation, the project appears to be open to qualified pump refurbishment and industrial maintenance contractors. The project serves the City of Craig's wastewater treatment facility, which supports a population of approximately 9,000 residents, and is located at 2301 West 1st Street in Craig. The city reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding process. Proposals must be submitted on provided bid forms, clearly marked with the bidder's name and "Allis Chalmers Pump Refurbishment," with no indication of a specific budget range or award value. The project timeline suggests completion is targeted for the first quarter of 2026, and bidders are required to maintain their proposal pricing for 30 days after the bid opening. Interested vendors can obtain full specifications by contacting the City Clerk at (970) 826-2008 or kcarmody@cityofcraig.org.
