About this opportunity

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is issuing a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to establish a pool of contractors that will provide reliable and credible range riding services in areas of known wolf pack occupancy and areas where proactive measures are being implemented. The purpose of this contract is to mitigate wolf-livestock interactions and potential conflicts. The contract term is one year, with the possibility of up to two additional one-year extensions at WDFW's discretion. Qualified contractors will be reimbursed at a rate of $26.25 per hour for up to 7 hours, and a flat rate of $250 per day for 8 or more hours. Mileage may also be reimbursed at the current state rate. Contractors and their employees/subcontractors must meet specific qualifications, including experience in livestock handling, carnivore identification, and using deterrents. WDFW reserves the right to require a probationary period of up to 6 months for newly hired range riders.

This procurement is open to all eligible proposers, with an emphasis on outreach to minority and veteran-owned businesses. WDFW will evaluate proposals as they are received and award contracts to qualified proposers. Proposals will be accepted through December 31, 2024. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are listed, and the available budget range is not provided.
