About this opportunity
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is soliciting design services for the Ramsey Welding and CNA Lab Upgrade project at its Madison Site in Marshall, North Carolina, with proposals due August 19, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. All proposing firms must be properly licensed to practice architecture, engineering, or landscape architecture in North Carolina, verified through the NC Board of Architecture, NC Board of Examiners for Engineers & Surveyors, or NC Board of Landscape Architects.
The scope encompasses upgrades to electrical systems, lighting, and ventilation in the existing 2,600-square-foot welding laboratory, along with comprehensive cleaning and painting of that space. The welding lab will expand into the adjacent 1,760-square-foot CNA lab area, with the CNA program relocating to a mobile classroom in the parking lot. The project site was originally constructed in 1990.
The total project budget is $500,000, funded through State SCIF (State Capital Improvement Fund). The college has not assigned an OC-25 number.
Proposers must submit three copies of a Letter of Interest (not exceeding ten single-sided pages or five double-sided pages) and three copies of the current Standard Form 254 (SF 254). Submissions must be mailed to Beth Green, Executive Director of Facilities and Plant Operations, at A-B Tech Community College, Chestnut Building, 340 Victoria Road, Asheville, North Carolina 28801; email and fax submissions will not be accepted.
The selection committee will evaluate proposals based on specialized expertise in project type, past performance on similar projects, adequate staffing and team composition, current workload, proposed design approach, recent cost and schedule experience, construction administration capabilities, proximity to the project location, and record of successful project completion, among other relevant factors.
