About this opportunity
The Texas Department of Transportation Houston District is requesting bids on radar vehicle detection systems under IFB 601330000046488, with bids due July 10, 2026 at 3:00 PM Central Time, questions due June 30, and question responses posted July 2.
The scope consists of three radar system types for intersection control: Radar Advance Detection Devices (RADD) for vehicles approaching at 100–500 feet, Side Fire Radar for passing vehicles and data collection across up to eight lanes, and Radar Presence Detection Devices (RPDD) for stopped or slow-moving vehicles within 50–325 feet. All systems must achieve 95 percent detection accuracy, operate across temperature ranges from –34°C to +74°C for cabinet-housed equipment and –34°C to +60°C for external sensors, comply with NEMA TS-1 and TS-2 standards and Type 4X enclosure requirements, meet FCC certification under CFR 47 Part 15, include 16 contact closure inputs, and support TCP/IP communications on Windows 7 64-bit or newer. RADD systems must track up to 25 vehicles with user-definable detection zones covering five lanes and configurable timing of 0–25 seconds. RPDD systems must distinguish wrong-way traffic and limit false calls to fewer than 20 per hour. The supplier must provide a comprehensive user guide, five-year warranty covering repairs and replacements at no charge, technical support within four hours via factory-certified personnel, free firmware updates, and optional installation supervision and up to two days of certified training for up to 20 personnel.
The bid table requests six units of a four-sensor Presence Detection Only module (Part 6008 7001) and four units of a four-sensor Advanced Detection Only module (Part 6008 7002). Delivery is to TxDOT's Galveston County Maintenance facility at 5407 Gulf Freeway, La Marque, Texas 77568, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday. Pricing must be submitted on a firm, all-inclusive, fixed-price basis with F.O.B. destination, freight prepaid and included. Award will be made to the vendor providing the best value based on lowest price and ability to meet requirements. The tentative award date is July 24, 2026. Responses must include a signed Bid Table, Execution of Bid, Texas Family Code Schedule certifying child support compliance, and acknowledgement of any addenda, submitted through the Euna Procurement system at https://txdot.bonfirehub.com/. Respondents may claim Texas resident, service-disabled veteran, USA-produced, recycled material, and energy-efficiency preferences under applicable regulations.
