About this opportunity
The State of Maine, Division of Purchases, is soliciting bids for a Radar Altimeter TRA-3500/TRI-40 system, with bids due September 27, 2010. In case of tie bids, preference is given to in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.
The radar altimeter is designed for aircraft applications and must carry PMA (Parts Manufacturer Approval) certification, indicating FAA compliance. The system operates on 27.5 VDC power at 750 mA and measures altitude from 0 to 2,500 feet with dual antenna configuration and LED display. The TRI unit operates from −4°F to +131°F; the TRA unit from −40°F to +158°F. The center frequency is 4.3 GHz with a display update rate of twice per second. Altitude accuracy ranges from 5 feet at 0–100 feet to 7 percent accuracy at 500–2,500 feet. The system includes configurable decision-height selection, internal decision-height light, 1-kHz tone output, gear warning with internal light and audible tone, anti-hover circuit for helicopter operations, and self-test diagnostics. It provides ARINC analog outputs with two configurable and eight fixed trip-point output channels (100–800 feet) and supports visual display disable via strut switch inputs.
Unit prices must be submitted separately for each item, with all applicable discounts included and transportation charges prepaid. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder based on best-value considerations including quality, conformity with specifications, delivery date, and ultimate cost to the state. The Division of Purchases reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10%, reject any or all bids, waive formalities or technicalities, and decline contract assignment without written consent of the Director. Bidders must submit responses using prescribed forms and electronic submission to the Division of Purchases, Room 119, 9 State House Station, State Office Building, Augusta, Maine, prior to the closing date and time. The state is exempt from federal and Maine state sales and use taxes.
