About this opportunity
The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is requesting bids for the installation of electromagnetic door holders and associated low-voltage controls across five campus buildings under ITB-27-009, with responses due September 10, 2026 at 1:45 PM, and a mandatory pre-response meeting and site visit on August 20, 2026 at 10:00 AM at the FSDB Campus Police Center Checkpoint. Attendance at the pre-response meeting is required for proposal submission eligibility.
The scope spans installation of electromagnetic door holders, 120VAC power supplies, low-voltage wiring (plenum-rated in concealed areas, conduit in exposed areas with fire-sealed penetrations), door magnet installations via bolt-through options, low-voltage connections to power supplies and relays, panel programming to release doors on general fire alarm activation, and system testing and certification. Work covers five buildings: Gore-Vaill Annex #68, Coleman Center #13, Gregg Hall #9, Copeland Gymnasium #64, and Alumni Hall #12, located in St. Augustine, Florida.
Preferred components are specified — Edwards EST 1508-AQN5 electromagnetic door holders, LCN Sentronic 4040SEH fire/life safety door holders, and Altronix AL1024ULACMJ access power controllers — though vendors may propose equivalent products with proper documentation. Respondents must hold valid Florida licenses and registrations, maintain active MyFloridaMarketPlace registration and W-9 status, provide certificates of insurance, and submit notarized sworn statements addressing public entity crimes, minority and veteran business enterprise participation, drug-free workplace compliance, coercion of labor, and conflict of interest. All awarded contractors must complete FSDB-required background checks through Fieldprint and obtain FSDB identification badges before campus access per Florida House Bill 21.
The estimated contract start date is October 2, 2026. Pricing falls under the Category Two threshold of $35,000 per Florida Statute 287.017. Replies remain firm for 60 days after opening. No bid bond or performance bond is required. Proposal must be submitted in one original and five copies plus one electronic version on USB drive in PDF format. Questions must be submitted by email to Elizabeth Nimitz (nimitze@fsdbk12.org) and Kim Whitwam (whitwamk@fsdbk12.org). Selection committee review is scheduled for September 11, 2026, with intent to award notice on September 14, 2026.
