About this opportunity

Murray County Board of Education School Nutrition Program is requesting proposals for fresh produce delivery to ten school cafeterias for the 2026–2027 school year, with proposals due July 6, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., and board action scheduled for July 13, 2026.

The scope covers an extensive produce list—apples, bananas, cabbage, carrots, celery, cucumbers, eggs, grapes, lettuce, onions, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, and other fruits and vegetables—each with specified quality and packaging requirements. Weekly ordering with bi-weekly distribution to all ten schools is required during weekday business hours (6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) in refrigerated trucks. All products must comply with Buy American requirements, with domestic products comprising over 51% of processed food components.

The contract term runs August 1, 2026 through July 31, 2027, with the Board's option to extend for up to four additional one-year periods upon mutual agreement with no change in service fees. Pricing is based on vendor actual cost plus a fixed fee per case, with invoices subject to quarterly review against USDA Agricultural Marketing Service published prices for Atlanta. Payment is made monthly upon verified and signed invoices.

Vendors must provide evidence of liability insurance with minimum coverage limits, maintain a Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan with traceability and recall procedures, and comply with debarment certification, non-collusion statements, and E-Verify authorization. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to award on an individual item or combination of items basis. Evaluation is weighted as follows: price (60 points), delivery (20 points), quality (10 points), and references (10 points). Proposals are firm with no negotiations permitted after submission. Sealed proposals are submitted to the School Nutrition Department at 715 W. Chestnut Street, Chatsworth, GA 30705, or electronically to nutrition@murray.12.ga.us. Contact Amanda Ridley at (706) 517-0155 with questions.
