About this opportunity

The Long Beach Utilities Department is requesting quotations for Power Take Off (PTO) related parts and repair services for heavy and light duty trucks, with quotes due July 31, 2024 by 11:00 a.m. The scope covers PTO parts, repair services, and transmission repairs related to PTO work on eight vehicle types: Freightliner 114 SD, Ford F-Series, Ford F-350 SD, Ford F-450 SD, Ford F-450, Ford F-550, Sterling LT-9500, and AutoCar ACX42.

Bidders must be located within a 30-mile radius of LBUD's Operations Service Center at 1731 E. 33rd Street, Long Beach, California — a restrictive geographic requirement that narrows the competitive field to the local area. Vendors must have been in business providing PTO-related parts and repair services for a minimum of three years and must maintain adequate stock for weekly deliveries and emergency orders.

The contract term is one year with prices and rates held firm for the entire period. The bid form requires unit pricing for two hourly labor rates (PTO repair and transmission repair due to PTO) and 23 specific parts, plus allowance for miscellaneous items and other charges. Service-level requirements include parts delivery within three business days, standard repairs within seven business days, and emergency repairs within 24 hours of authorization with a two-hour response window. The contractor must obtain LBUD approval prior to subcontracting repair services, maintain a facility capable of servicing larger vehicles, assume all risk for loss or damage to vehicles in its possession, and maintain comprehensive general liability insurance of $1 million combined single limit, automobile liability of $500,000, and workers' compensation coverage. Award will be based on quoted rates and unit prices meeting specification requirements. Quotations must be submitted via email to CentralProcurement@LBUtilities.org.
