About this opportunity

The state and local contract opportunity is a procurement by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) for Pond #402 Weir Repair located in Orange County, Florida. The specific project involves repairing a damaged Fabriform weir pond control structure situated on the west side of Pond #402, northwest of the Osceola Parkway and World Drive interchange. The primary scope of work requires patching a 15-ft x 30-ft section of the existing northern weir structure that has been damaged by heavy loading, with detailed specifications outlined in the construction drawings provided in Exhibit B. Bidders must submit their proposals electronically through the PlanetBids platform by January 9, 2025, with the solicitation documents accessible at https://vendors.planetbids.com/portal/62171/bo/bo-detail/124374. Potential vendors will need to register on the PlanetBids platform to submit questions or bids, though document viewing does not require registration. The procurement process emphasizes transparency and fair competition through the electronic bidding platform.

The solicitation appears to offer bid preferences for local vendors, veteran small businesses, and opportunity zone businesses, which may provide advantageous positioning for qualifying firms. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated in the provided documents, the technical complexity of the weir repair suggests a specialized infrastructure project requiring contractors with expertise in civil engineering and water management infrastructure. The bidding process is open to qualified vendors who can demonstrate the technical capability to execute the precise repair specifications outlined in the bid documents. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District's procurement approach suggests a preference for local and small business participation, potentially creating opportunities for regional contractors with relevant technical expertise. The electronic submission requirement through PlanetBids indicates a modern procurement approach aimed at ensuring comprehensive vendor documentation, competitive pricing, and streamlined evaluation processes.
