About this opportunity

The City of Detroit is requesting quotations for demolition-only work at 14626 Greydale (Group 10.8.26 A), with quotations due October 13, 2026. Bidders must be Pre-Qualified Suppliers under the Construction and Demolition Department's RFQQ #1 Detroit Demolition Program for Planned Residential and/or Emergency Residential demolition work — this is a hard eligibility gate.

The property is a city-owned, 1955-built residential structure with 705 square feet on a 4,400 square-foot parcel (Parcel ID 22112567). Scope is demolition and debris removal only. Demolition and debris removal must be completed within seven calendar days of the Notice to Proceed. The contractor must request open hole inspection within seven calendar days of demolition start; backfill and grading with inspection request within fourteen calendar days of open hole approval; and final grade inspection by May 30 for winter-approved properties or within forty-five calendar days from April 16 to September 15 for standard approvals. All work is restricted to Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Backfill materials must originate from an approved Category 2 source on the City of Detroit Backfill platform and meet Michigan Part 201 Residential Cleanup Criteria. The contractor assumes all costs for equipment, materials, labor, permits, and licensed Type II landfill disposal of demolition debris.

Bidders must physically visit the site before submitting and provide a date-stamped photograph with their quotation; photographs from the Notice of Emergency Ordered Demolition are not acceptable. Quotations are submitted on a lump-sum basis via a signature page that includes Federal Employer ID, total employee count, and Detroit resident employee count. Purchase orders and payments issue only in the name of the bidding entity; assignment requires written approval from the Chief Procurement Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and in some cases City Council. Contractors are subject to the CDD Abatement and Demolition Contractor Discipline Policy (effective May 12, 2025), which imposes progressive discipline for Group I–IV offenses ranging from written discipline and suspension periods (30 to 365 days) to contract termination. Contractors with disciplinary actions as of the RFQ due date or with assigned sites where demolition was not commenced within stipulated timeframes are disqualified from award consideration. Effective August 1, 2026, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department will inspect and remove lead service lines following BSEED Open Hole Approval, completing work within five business days; this process pauses the contractor's term of performance.
