About this opportunity
The City of Lakeland, Georgia is seeking bids for the Pine Street Well Rehabilitation & New Chemical Feed Building project, a comprehensive water infrastructure improvement initiative located in Lamar County. The procurement requires a qualified utility contractor to perform extensive well and water system upgrades, including removal of existing electrical equipment, pump systems, and infrastructure, followed by cleaning and video inspection of a 10-inch steel well casing. The project scope encompasses installing a new 100-HP, 650 GPM vertical turbine pump, constructing a new chemical feed building, demolishing the existing chemical feed building, and installing approximately 850 linear feet of 12-inch water main and 60 linear feet of 6-inch water main. Bidders must hold a valid Georgia "Utility Contractor" license and provide a bid bond or certified cashier's check for 10% of the base bid. Sealed bids will be received until June 10th, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Lakeland City Hall, with a total project completion time of 360 consecutive calendar days. The project is partially funded through the American Rescue Plan Act Funds via the Governor's Office of Planning & Budget State Fiscal Recovery Fund (SFRF) grant program.
Contractors responding to this opportunity must comply with E-Verify requirements and provide an Affidavit of Compliance. The successful bidder will be required to submit performance and payment bonds, each covering 100% of the contract price. While no specific set-aside designations for disadvantaged enterprises are mentioned, the City reserves the right to reject any or all bids. The project does not require the contractor to obtain land disturbance or stormwater permits. Although a specific budget range is not disclosed, the complexity of the infrastructure work, including site preparation, electrical work, valving, painting, and fencing, suggests a significant capital investment. The project represents a critical infrastructure upgrade for the City of Lakeland, focusing on improving water system reliability and capacity through comprehensive rehabilitation and new construction efforts.
