About this opportunity
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is seeking a qualified contractor to provide and install a 42' x 80' Fabric Type Stressed Skin Membrane Storage Structure at their Northwest District facility in Clearmont, Newton County. The project involves constructing a fabric structure with specific requirements, including two 18' x 18' gather doors with electric winch mounted on the exterior, two fixed 18"x24" louver vents on end walls, and a tan or beige fabric covering. The structure will be erected on interlocking concrete blocks already provided by MoDOT. Bid responses are due by November 24, 2021, at 2:00 PM CST, with site visits schedulable through Matt Moppin until November 15, 2021. Written questions must be submitted by November 16, 2021, and the project completion date is set for May 6, 2022. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with the bid to be submitted as a lump sum amount and requiring a 5% bid bond or equivalent financial guarantee.
MoDOT actively encourages participation from Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Women Business Enterprises (WBE), with specific goals of 10% MBE and 5% WBE involvement. The contractor must comply with prevailing wage requirements for Nodaway County and provide comprehensive insurance coverage, including commercial general liability, automobile liability, and workers' compensation. Liquidated damages of $300 per day will be assessed for late completion. The project requires quality management oversight, with MoDOT conducting hold point inspections at critical stages including block setting, steel structure installation, and final inspection of components such as tarp, bolt tightness, strap anchoring, end-wall erection, and door installation. Successful bidders must furnish a 100% performance and payment bond, and payment will be made on a net 30-day basis, with MoDOT reserving the right to use a state purchasing card for transactions.
