About this opportunity
The State of Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Northern Region Planning Section, is soliciting professional engineering airport planning services to develop an updated Airport Master Plan for Nome Airport (OME) located in the Nome Census Area. The procurement requires comprehensive airport planning expertise to guide the development of a detailed master plan document that will serve as a strategic planning tool for the facility's future. The scope of work encompasses all services necessary for completing a thorough master plan update, though specific deliverables and detailed requirements are contained within the Request for Proposals package. The estimated period of performance extends from July 2026 through December 2028, providing approximately 30 months for plan development and completion. Interested parties must obtain the RFP package from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, either electronically from https://dot.alaska.gov/procurement/awp/awp-rfp-cal.cfm, in person at the Engineering Services Building in Fairbanks, or by mail upon request at (907) 451-2247. The RFP documentation does not specify set-aside designations or restrictions limiting organizational eligibility, though respondents must comply with all instructions and requirements outlined in the RFP package and submit proposals using specified forms. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are identified in the available opportunity materials, and no existing infrastructure or technology integration requirements are noted. The estimated cost for these professional services is anticipated to fall within the range of $500,000 to $999,999, representing a substantial contract for airport master planning services. Proposals must conform strictly to RFP specifications, and the State of Alaska will evaluate submissions based on criteria detailed within the RFP package itself. This procurement represents a significant opportunity for qualified professional engineering firms with airport planning expertise to support infrastructure planning and development in rural Alaska.
