About this opportunity

The Town of Trumbull, Connecticut is requesting sealed bids for municipal solid waste, garbage, refuse, and recycling collection and removal from Town and Board of Education facilities under RFQ #6575, with bids due June 11, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

The scope covers twice-weekly MSW pickups at seven Town locations (Town Hall, Police Station, EMS Building, Tashua Maintenance Barn, Senior Center, Main Library, and Highway Department); once-weekly pickups at four additional Town locations (Fairchild Library, Health Department, Animal Shelter, and Tellalian Building); and bi-weekly recycling collection at all Town buildings. For thirteen Board of Education school buildings, services include varying container sizes (3 to 8 yards) and pickup frequencies that differ between school year and summer vacation periods, plus special event weekend pickups as needed. Bidders must provide pricing separately for each Town location and separately or combined for MSW and recycling at BOE facilities, along with pricing for additional containers and optional service frequency reductions.

The contract term is three years from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2029, with two optional one-year renewal periods at mutually agreed-upon pricing. All prices must be firm and fixed for the entire three-year initial term, with special consideration given to bidders offering extended firm price dates. The contractor is exempt from tipping fees at the Town's designated transfer station at Spring Hill Road and from fees at the Regional Recycling Center in Stratford for recyclables. The contractor must maintain comprehensive insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence for bodily injury and $500,000 for property damage. Missed pickups result in $100 penalty charges per incident deducted from monthly invoices; repeated failures may trigger termination. Bidders must conduct mandatory site inspections prior to submission and provide minimum four references for similar projects completed within the past five years. Proposals must include one original and two exact copies plus one thumb drive copy.
